Comsys is looking for Sr. Unix Administrator for a contract to hire position in San Jose. Below are the details of the Job.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
Plan, Order, deploy, test, and document UNIX/Linux infrastructure on a per project or as needed basis. Responsible for operationally excellent management of UNIX systems and mail infrastructure required to keep Client*s web properties running in a 24x7 environment.
Required to contribute to the selection, design, and implementation of hardware, Operating Systems, and technical solutions to solve business problems. Includes maintaining and improving on Client*s strict technical standards as it relates to performance and availability.
Ability to serve as a technical lead for project implementation and drive technical escalations to conclusion.
Work with Project Managers and other engineering groups on Project Implementations. Work with Site Services staff at Client Data Center to setup and configure hardware.
Technical Requirements:
* In-depth knowledge of Solaris, Linux, Apache mandatory - Individual must be able to articulate advanced technical topics (e.g. process scheduling, kernel internals, TCP/IP communications at all levels).
* Intermediate skills in SAN, VCS, VxVM
* Experience in large internet based service organizations
* Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments
* Scripting expertise (Bourne, Perl, Awk, Sed, etc.)
* Basic knowledge of networking, databases, client-server and web applications
Soft Skills
* Communication skills must be A+
* Solid, demonstrable problem solving ability
* Strong Team work
* Independent worker
Preferred Skills:
* Solaris 10 and Redhat Linux experience preferred
* Prefer those with internet service experience, experience Managing/Tuning SendMail and Postfix mail infrastructures and candidates who have been in 24x7 operational environments.
* SendMail and Postfix experience a plus
* DNS and BIND expertise preferred
* Knowledge of cfengine/big brother a plus
